The goal of A Better Way CAC is to reduce the trauma to children and youth who have made allegations of sexual or severe physical abuse. The reporting process is designed to be a single event overseen and followed up by a Multidisciplinary Team which includes law enforcement, medical and child protective services.
Using a comprehensive Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) approach to intervention, investigation, prosecution, and treatment for alleged child sexual abuse, children and families are offered caring and comprehensive services designed to avoid further victimization by the very system designed to protect them.

The primary goal of A Better Way Children’s Advocacy Center is to reduce a child’s trauma.

Children should only have to tell what happened to them one time. Children and youth who have made allegations of sexual abuse, or severe physical abuse, or those who have witnessed violent crime, are welcomed in an environment that is both child-friendly and child-accessible.
The child has only one investigative interview, conducted by a trained forensic interviewer skilled at interviewing children. At this time, each agency is able to ask specific questions, and coordinate their needs together while the child is being interviewed. The session is recorded using state-of-the-art technology, to prevent the need for the child to tell what happened again and again. This concept of wrapping a family in support services makes the experience more positive, and allows the healing to begin.

Advocacy services offer families a light in the darkness. We provide services to the non-offending caregivers, child victim and other family members. Services include a needs assessment, referrals to various community resources, connection to the local victim’s rights agency, complete client education and ongoing support throughout the investigation, intervention and treatment process. Referrals are also made to the appropriate medical and therapeutic providers as needed.

We believe that adults within the local community are responsible for preventing harm to children. A Better Way Children’s Advocacy Center offers a variety of training opportunities to youth educators, faith-based organizations, parents and other adult communities determined to stop abuse. Please call us for more information about how you can help prevent child abuse.
