Supervised Family Visitation
Advocates’ Family Visitation Program is committed to offering local families, referred by the Division of Family and Children Services, the opportunity to share in quality, purposeful supervised visitation services.
Helping them Learn, Heal, and Grow, as a Family
Supervised Family Visitation is considered to be the KEY to successful Reunification, and is the primary way to safely build and maintain relationships while family members are living apart. We offer a way to ease the pain of separation and loss for the children and their parents by providing a context for learning and an opportunity to empower family members during their transition through the foster care system.
Families enrolled in this Program are provided with a safe, child-friendly, and homelike environment to enjoy their scheduled time together. During their supervised visits, parents are offered one-on-one coaching and real-time support by trained, skilled professionals. The children are offered the support and oversight of trained professionals who ensure their safety and wellbeing while they visit with their parents. In an effort to remove additional barriers to maintaining consistent supervised visitation, we offer parents and children transportation services to and from the sessions.
Parents also engage in pre/post planning to ensure they share meaningful visitation sessions with their children. Together, we help them to identify their family’s strengths, needs, and areas for improvement while they complete their case plan goals to regain custody of their children. During this process we also support DFCS Case Managers, Relative Caregivers, and Foster Parents as they care temporarily for these children and teens, when their parents can not.
